It is our goal to maintain Union Cemetery in a manner befitting the loved ones buried here. To do this, we ask your assistance in the following ways:
Burials and Monuments
For safety, digging for burial and cremation plots shall be managed only by cemetery groundskeeping.
Upon completion of burial, the grave site will temporarily be mounded. Groundskeeping will continue restoration over a period of 2-8 months, depending on the seasons.
For proper marking, please notify sexton before placement of monument.
Monuments shall be placed on a cement base, including a five-inch cement border as part of the base.
Trees, Shrubs and Flowers
Glass containers shall not be allowed because of breakage.
Because there is no garbage disposal, please take refuse with you.
Planting trees or shrubs shall not be allowed without permission of sexton.
Artificial ornaments/arrangements shall be attached to or placed as close to the headstone as possible.
Timeworn arrangements shall be removed at the discretion of groundskeeping.
Liability
The Union Cemetery Association, including its sextons, groundskeepers and board members, assume no liability for damages to property or person, or for physical or mental suffering arising from operations related to the construction, management, operation, maintenance, care and platting of Union Cemetery, including the care of the cemetery, any lot, and the graves, or for loss by vandalism, or other acts beyond its reasonable control.
